The Bike ?

"Dutch Treat" is a beautiful RED Honda GL1500 Aspencade. Better known as GOLDWING.

Originally from California (as it seems by the looks of the special exhaust emission system) this bike has been located somewhere in Texas by my Honda Dealer. He has imported the machine for me to The Netherlands which gives me:

bulletthe advantage of a USA model (as in wiring and illumination, with all the ease of applying aftermarket gadgets) and
bulletthe advantage of a reduced price (dollar ratings and 'used-import' taxes can turn out to be somewhat less that Dutch taxes for new consumer products)

The "Dutch Treat" is my third Goldwing and my second GL1500. My first one was a GL1000 K3, somewhere in the middle of my bike history. (See bike history for more details about my previous fleet of motorcycles.)

Bike Naming

My bikes did not always carry names. One did, a long time ago, when I put the name of my girlfriend (current wife) on the fairing of my Honda cx500. After that this habit faded out until my first Goldwing came up. This bike was equipped with white upper and lower fairings and it was called 'Police-Bike' by my two little sons. This was never painted on the bike though, for it was not realy a police bike.

Long after that I ended up on the WOTI interested mailing list, where bike names are quite usual and I thought it would be appropriate to give my next Goldwing a nickname. And I did!
